Executive search for electrical services businesses.
INC'D recruits senior leaders for PE-backed electrical contractors and multi-trade service platforms.
Trade credibility meets institutional execution.
Licensing, workforce scarcity, backlog quality, project accounting, safety, union environments and field delivery make electrical leadership highly specific. The right executive must understand the trade while building the controls and management layer expected by an institutional owner.
We assess whether a leader has actually managed the project, labor and financial complexity of the mandate, not merely worked near it.
Roles we recruit.
What matters in the brief.
- Commercial and residential mix
- Licensing and labor
- WIP and project accounting
- Estimating and backlog
- Union and non-union experience
- Safety
- Multi-trade integration
The market today.

Where electrical searches go wrong.
A CEO with investor credentials but no trade credibility
Field teams will not follow a leader who cannot speak their language. In a licensed trade, that gap shows immediately.
A CFO from outside construction
Percentage-of-completion accounting and work-in-progress schedules are specialist skills. It is a frequent mismatch in electrical acquisitions, and mistakes can unsettle diligence on the next deal.
Underestimating union dynamics
Union agreements, pension obligations and jurisdictional work rules need operations leaders who have run union and non-union teams side by side.
Treating a regional leader as a standard P&L hire
The best regional leaders are often former owners who have already adjusted from running their own firm to working within a larger group. That adjustment is the hardest step in an electrical roll-up.
The roles, explained.
- CEO or President
- Can walk a jobsite with foremen in the morning and present to investors in the afternoon. Needs genuine field credibility alongside the discipline to run acquisitions and hit earnings targets.
- Chief Financial Officer
- The scarcest hire in the sector: percentage-of-completion accounting, work-in-progress schedules, bonding, retainage and change orders, plus leading financial diligence on acquisitions.
- VP of Operations
- Coordinates many projects at once, makes daily decisions about where licensed labor goes, and brings acquired companies onto common standards.
- General Manager
- Owns a branch or regional P&L across project delivery, technician utilization, bonding capacity and the quality of the backlog, not just its size.
- Chief Estimating Officer
- Sets bid strategy and margin targets and brings each acquired company's estimating methods together without disrupting the backlog. Margin is often won or lost here.
- Regional Vice President
- Runs a geographic unit, including union relationships where they apply, and leads local integration of acquired firms.
- M&A Integration Lead
- Combines construction knowledge with formal integration experience to run systems migration, people harmonization and synergy capture as a permanent function.
What INC'D brings.
- We know which leaders have genuinely moved from trade culture to running a larger, investor-backed business, and which only appear to have.
- We understand the difference between a smaller commercial contractor in its first year of investment and a large multi-trade business approaching its next sale, and the leader each stage needs.
- We know the construction CFOs who understand percentage-of-completion accounting, work-in-progress schedules and bonding, and can work to investor reporting from day one.
- We are already talking to the people you will need before you know you need them.
How INC'D searches this market.
We recruit electrical-services leaders against the trade mix, licensing environment, backlog, labor model and project-accounting demands of the business. Candidates must show relevant field and financial control at comparable scale. A typical shortlist contains three to five qualified leaders within two to four weeks of engagement.
