Executive search for roofing businesses.

INC'D recruits senior leaders for PE-backed residential and commercial roofing platforms.

The operating model changes with the roof.

Residential storm restoration, retail replacement, service and commercial roofing each have distinct sales, labor, claims and project delivery models. A leader successful in one is not automatically transferable to another.

We define the actual revenue engine and search for executives who have led that model at the platform's intended scale.

Roles we recruit.

  • CEO
  • President
  • COO
  • CFO
  • General Manager
  • VP Operations
  • Regional Director
  • Chief Revenue Officer
  • Commercial Service Leader
  • Claims & Compliance Leader

What matters in the brief.

  • Residential and commercial mix
  • Storm, retail or service model
  • Lead and canvassing economics
  • Insurance claims
  • Estimating
  • Crew and subcontractor capacity
  • Safety
  • Project margin
  • Branch integration

Where roofing searches go wrong.

  1. A CFO who has never managed insurance payment timing

In roofing, what the adjuster approves, what the insurer pays and when the money actually arrives are three different things. Finance leaders from other trades often have not managed that gap, and it can strain cash in an otherwise profitable business.

  2. Treating supplements as back office work

Adjuster estimates routinely miss legitimate items. The leader who runs supplement claims protects margin on every insurance job, so the role belongs close to the top of the business, not buried in administration.

  3. A revenue leader who only knows storm work

Storm response is one demand channel. Retail replacement, insurance referrals and age-driven replacements are the others. A sales leader who grew up chasing hail can struggle to build the year-round revenue that buyers value more highly.

  4. Treating safety as a compliance hire

Roofing is one of the most dangerous trades, and the safety record affects whether the business can buy insurance at a sensible price. The safety leader is an earnings hire, not a paperwork one.

The roles, explained.

CEO or President
Integrates acquired roofers across regions while moving revenue from storm-heavy work toward steadier retail, commercial and maintenance work. Has to keep founders, crews and adjuster relationships intact through that change.
Chief Financial Officer
Runs job costing without a recurring revenue base, manages insurance payment timing, treats supplements as a revenue line and handles volatile material costs. One of the most specialized finance roles in home services, and these searches often take longer than expected.
VP of Operations
Schedules around the weather, manages subcontracted crews across acquired brands, scales up quickly after a storm and buys materials well. Materials are a large share of every job, so this leader is part field executive and part supply chain manager.
General Manager
Owns a branch or regional P&L, managing estimators, production crews and supplement capture, and shifting the mix toward repeat maintenance work.
Chief Revenue Officer
Starts every year with little contracted revenue and runs several demand channels at once. The hard part is building repeatable systems, not just winning the next storm.
Director of Insurance Claims and Supplements
Owns estimating standards, adjuster negotiation and supplement filing. A role that barely exists outside roofing and restoration, and one of the largest margin levers in the business.
VP of Safety and Risk
Leads fall protection, training and claims management across crews and brands, and directly affects the cost and availability of insurance.

What INC'D brings.

  • We can tell a storm contractor who had one big hail year from a leader who built steady, year-round revenue. In a good year their numbers look the same. Their leadership does not.
  • We know what a roofing CFO brief really involves: insurance-based job costing, payment timing, supplements as revenue and volatile material costs. We do not present a general finance leader and hope the business can train them.
  • We know the safety leaders who combine regulatory depth with the credibility to change crew behavior across acquired brands.
  • We assess whether founders have moved from protecting the original company to leading the larger platform through integration.
